Within, most of the original period features have been retained and carefully restored, lending the home a wonderfully timeless charm and calm, far from the madding crowd.

Registered Manager Helen Chapman and her team personify Allegra Care’s philosophy of care with compassion. We believe that residents’ individuality, self esteem and dignity must be observed without fail - the empathy, kindness and patience of our staff put that principle into practice. Guided by an individualised care plan, which is established in conjunction with the resident and family upon admission, the highly trained and experienced team ensure that tailored, person-centred nursing, respite and palliative care is sensitively delivered at all times.

The home combines all the modern facilities required for outstanding elderly care with a delightful period setting. From the expansive, high-ceilinged bedrooms with lattice glazed windows to the elegant library, from the covered veranda to the oak-panelled dining room, it’s a property of wonderful character. There’s also a private dining room, where residents can entertain family and friends, and a bright, spacious lounge - the social hub of New Forest Nursing Home. Features such as a passenger lift, a Parker bath and specialist lifting equipment make life easier for residents and staff alike, enabling uncompromised standards of care.

Our activities team ensure that each resident is provided with an appropriate activity routine within the home, augmented by regular excursions in our wheelchair-friendly minibus. There are 43 cosy bedrooms at New Forest Nursing Home. These range from singles with en-suites to larger double rooms for couples of residents who prefer company. All benefit from original period features and are neutrally decorated and attractively furnished. Alternatively, residents are welcome to bring their own furniture, personal effects and pictures to lend their rooms a familiarity and some cherished home comforts.

From simple touches such as handrails in corridors and the use of furniture and pictures to provide landmarks to help with orientation, to carefully optimised and appropriate levels of lighting to reduce glare and shadows, the living environment has been discreetly enhanced to promote calm and reduce anxiety. Pull cord nurse alarms in bedrooms and bathrooms provide the reassurance of rapid response in the event of emergencies, and thoughtful enhancements such as low surface temperature radiators help ensure enhanced resident safety.
