Magdalen House Care Home Welcomes Suffolk Sight for an Information drop in session

Magdalen House Care Home recently hosted its first information session with Suffolk Sight, which turned out to be a great success. Over 30 attendees visited, each leaving with valuable information and the promise of a follow-up. The event received very positive feedback, with many expressing interest in making it a regular occurrence.

Sight Awareness Week

This event was part of Sight Awareness Week, a significant initiative focused on raising awareness of vision-related issues and supporting individuals with visual impairments. The week emphasises the importance of eye health, regular check-ups, and the prevention of avoidable blindness. It also highlights the challenges faced by those with sight loss.

Innovative Technology

One of the highlights of the session was Suffolk Sight's demonstration of new technology designed to support sight-impaired individuals. These tools offer improved independence and accessibility in daily life, making a huge difference for those affected by sight loss.

Suffolk Sight Community Team

The Suffolk Sight Community Team also scheduled follow-up home visits, showing their dedication to providing personalised care. Home visits enable the team to assess individual needs, offer customized advice, and suggest modifications or tools to enhance the living environment for sight-impaired individuals.

Hadleigh Library’s Involvement

Hadleigh Library played a supportive role by informing attendees about its accessible facilities and services for the visually impaired. Libraries are an essential resource for individuals with visual impairments, offering accessible materials, assistive technologies, and more.

Fundraising

A big thank you to Morrisons in Hadleigh for their generosity in allowing us to spend the day collecting donations on behalf of Suffolk Sight. Thanks to the kindness of shoppers and the support from the store, we were able to raise an impressive £145. This will go a long way in supporting individuals with visual impairments in our community. We truly appreciate everyone who contributed!

This collaboration between our Magdalen House Care Home in Suffolk Sight, and the local library demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the lives of those living with visual impairments in the community.
