About Dunwood Manor Nursing Home

Situated just outside the historic Hampshire town of Romsey, Dunwood Manor Nursing Home provides high quality nursing, respite, dementia and palliative care for residents aged 60 and over.

Accommodation and care in this thoughtful, contemporary refurbishment of a stately Edwardian country house, complete with a modern extension, is arranged over two wings. Dedicated dementia care is provided in the secure “Beeches” wing, with its own separate and secure garden, whilst in “Willows”, general nursing care, respite and specialist palliative care are offered.

The home is set in 12 acres of lush, mature gardens, providing a calm and restful outlook - both from within the property, from the decked sun terrace and from the large gazebo within the grounds.

Generous room sizes with period features

Dunwood Manor has a total of 45 bedrooms across its two wings. Those in the original building enjoy an array of period features and character, with equally generous room sizes in the newer areas of the building. Neutrally decorated and tastefully furnished, some rooms also benefit from direct access to private decked areas, from which the tranquil gardens can be enjoyed. Residents are also welcome to bring their own furniture, personal effects and pictures to enhance the cosy, homely ambience of their accommodation.

Safety, security and peace of mind

Throughout Dunwood Manor, great attention has been paid to optimising resident safety and security, especially in “Beeches” secure dementia wing. Lighting is controlled to reduce shadows or glare, which can cause anxiety, whilst colour schemes, pictures and furniture have been used to provide reassuring visual reference points around the building. Rooms benefit from safety features such as low touch temperature radiators, bathrooms are fitted out with grab rails and accessibility fixtures and fittings, whilst pull cord alarms enable rapid nurse response in the event of an emergency.

Additional services to make life better

Over and above the exceptional 24/7 care on offer, we also provide access to a range of additional services. Residents can benefit from visiting hairdressing, chiropody and physiotherapy, as well as dental and optical services. Each of these can contribute significantly to overall well-being and enhance residents’ overall quality of life.

The green, tranquil surroundings and historic setting lend life at Dunwood Manor a genuinely peaceful quality.
