A refreshing, wellbeing-led approach to care
At Allegra, we realise that freedom, choice, and identity are key to residents’ self-worth and overall wellbeing. Adopting a people-centred approach at every stage, we’ve now taken this ethos further at The Grove, creating little neighbourhoods, compact communities, where everybody knows everybody else and smiles.
Fundamentally, it’s about working in partnership with residents and relatives, rather than doing tasks for them/ overstepping boundaries. And whether it’s allowing someone to make their own food at their own pace, in their own way, or creating more homely touches with table decorations and photos, we’ve truly succeeded in using the model and its modern approach to care to create an authentic 'home' to our residents.
A home designed for comfort and wellbeing
We never forget that, with dementia, it’s essential to treat the person - not the condition. That’s why care is centred around evoking personal memories and stimulating mental activity to promote well-being.
The whole Team at The Grove are committed to nurturing well-being and joy through the delivery of exceptional dementia care. A home from home to our residents, all of our professional team are dedicated to prioritising each individual’s privacy, dignity and individuality.
We place great importance on our admission process - the cornerstone of a holistic care plan that’s tailored to individual physical and mental health needs, as well as emotional, spiritual and cultural beliefs. Thereafter, care provision is continually reviewed and adapted in consultation with the resident and their loved ones.

More than just a place to live
Our reminiscence village attracted national press and television coverage when it opened, and features a traditional local pub, a village greengrocer's and a post office. People living with dementia often recall the distant past more clearly than recent events, so an environment like this has been found to be hugely beneficial helping residents reach those long-term memories, keeping the mind active and making a real difference to how they feel day to day.
As dementia can affect how people experience flavour, it can have a profound impact on eating habits. Good nutrition that is keyed into an individual’s requirements is therefore critically important to ensure they continue to enjoy a healthy diet.
More than any other category of elderly care, dementia calls for sensitively designed and well planned activities to engage the mind and body. In addition to activities within the home such as arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, singing and armchair aerobics.
Beautifully restored and redecorated, many of the 35 private bedrooms enjoy the period features and character of the original building.
Whilst The Grove Residential Home is predominantly an historical building, it offers an array of contemporary safety and security features that are essential for effective dementia care, from nurse call alarms and security lighting to night lights and CCTV around the exterior of the building

What The Grove means to our residents’ families
Everything else you need to know
All Allegra Care homes provide dedicated residential nursing care, with respite, long-term, and end-of-life provisions. People helping people is at our core, and that expert care prioritises warmth, compassion, and empathy.
Some Allegra Care homes, too, are able to offer additional specialist care. That can include dedicated dementia care, empathetic support for those exhibiting behaviours that challenge, specialised help for young people with disabilities, and more.
Care costs are just one of many aspects involved in choosing the right care option for your loved one. We understand, however, the importance of clarity when it comes to fees and funding. That’s why we invite you to get in touch with one of our friendly teams and discuss fees, funding options, and your individual needs.
The Household Model is a key part of Allegra Care’s philosophy and how we redefine the way care is delivered in the UK. At its heart, it’s about making each home a welcoming environment for residents, loved ones, and staff.
Residents retain their independence and sense of self, while feeling part of a fun and dynamic community where they can make real friends. They can maintain hobbies and habits, their loved ones can drop by whenever they like, and they forge genuine connections with carers and staff.
You can absolutely visit an Allegra Care home if you’re interested in learning more or think it may be a good fit for your needs.
It’s quick and easy to schedule a tour of the home that may suit you. Our friendly team will be delighted to show you around and to answer the questions of any prospective residents and their families.
Any new resident at an Allegra Care home can expect a warm welcome. We’re dedicated to ensuring that everyone feels at home. Rather than being focused on rules or schedules, we’re focused on people. That means whatever your loved one needs to settle in, we’ll do all we can to accommodate.
From day one, we’ll create a personalised care plan, you can visit as and when you wish, and you’re encouraged to bring personal items, pictures, and furniture to help make your loved one’s room truly their own.
Each resident’s personalised care plan is regularly reviewed by our expert care teams. Whether to respond to changing needs or simply make them feel happier and more comfortable, we’ll proactively adapt plans as necessary.
Families are absolutely welcome to visit at any time, and be a full and active part of an Allegra Care community. We’d simply suggest considering when staff’s busiest times are likely to be and, if possible, to give some advance warning of very early visits or planned outings.
Allegra Care operates a family of quality homes across central and southern England.
Including everything from modern, purpose-built properties to elegant country residences, our homes serve Hampshire and Dorset, South Gloucestershire and Somerset, Cambridgeshire, and Suffolk.
