A true home-from-home

Dementia Care at Allegra Care

We provide specialist dementia care designed around the individual, creating safe, familiar environments where residents feel truly at home, whatever stage of their journey they're on.

Understanding dementia

What is dementia care?

Dementia is a term used to describe a range of conditions that affect memory, thinking and behaviour. As the condition progresses, daily tasks
that were once straightforward can become increasingly difficult, and the level of support needed grows with it.

Dementia care provides specialist support for those living with the condition, in an environment specifically designed around their needs. The goal isn't just to keep someone safe, it's to help them continue living a meaningful, enjoyable life, with their identity, dignity and independence at the centre of everything.

At Allegra Care, our dementia households are purpose-designed to feel familiar and calming, with teams who are trained to truly understand the person behind the condition.

Our approach

Dementia care built around who they are

Every person living with dementia has their own history, their own routines and their own way
of experiencing the world. Our approach starts there — not with a diagnosis, but with a person.

Through the Household Model, our dementia residents live in smaller, more intimate groups — reducing anxiety, building familiarity and creating a genuine sense of home. Our teams are trained to understand the emotional and psychological
needs of those living with dementia, and to respond with patience, empathy and skill.

Got questions?

Everything else you need to know

All Allegra Care homes provide dedicated residential nursing care, with respite, long-term, and end-of-life provisions. People helping people is at our core, and that expert care prioritises warmth, compassion, and empathy.

Some Allegra Care homes, too, are able to offer additional specialist care. That can include dedicated dementia care, empathetic support for those exhibiting behaviours that challenge, specialised help for young people with disabilities, and more.

Care costs are just one of many aspects involved in choosing the right care option for your loved one. We understand, however, the importance of clarity when it comes to fees and funding. That’s why we invite you to get in touch with one of our friendly teams and discuss fees, funding options, and your individual needs.

The Household Model is a key part of Allegra Care’s philosophy and how we redefine the way care is delivered in the UK. At its heart, it’s about making each home a welcoming environment for residents, loved ones, and staff.

Residents retain their independence and sense of self, while feeling part of a fun and dynamic community where they can make real friends. They can maintain hobbies and habits, their loved ones can drop by whenever they like, and they forge genuine connections with carers and staff.

You can absolutely visit an Allegra Care home if you’re interested in learning more or think it may be a good fit for your needs.

It’s quick and easy to schedule a tour of the home that may suit you. Our friendly team will be delighted to show you around and to answer the questions of any prospective residents and their families.

Any new resident at an Allegra Care home can expect a warm welcome. We’re dedicated to ensuring that everyone feels at home. Rather than being focused on rules or schedules, we’re focused on people. That means whatever your loved one needs to settle in, we’ll do all we can to accommodate.

From day one, we’ll create a personalised care plan, you can visit as and when you wish, and you’re encouraged to bring personal items, pictures, and furniture to help make your loved one’s room truly their own.

Each resident’s personalised care plan is regularly reviewed by our expert care teams. Whether to respond to changing needs or simply make them feel happier and more comfortable, we’ll proactively adapt plans as necessary.

Families are absolutely welcome to visit at any time, and be a full and active part of an Allegra Care community. We’d simply suggest considering when staff’s busiest times are likely to be and, if possible, to give some advance warning of very early visits or planned outings.

Allegra Care operates a family of quality homes across central and southern England.

Including everything from modern, purpose-built properties to elegant country residences, our homes serve Hampshire and Dorset, South Gloucestershire and Somerset, Cambridgeshire, and Suffolk.
