The residents of Waverley Lodge had an absolutely delightful day out yesterday, filled with laughter, sunshine, and fantastic experiences. They embarked on a special trip to the Headlands farm coffee shop, marking the first time they had visited this charming spot. And let me tell you, it was an adventure that will be cherished for years to come!

The sun has got his hat on!

As luck would have it, the weather was truly on their side, with the sun beaming down warmly. The residents took full advantage of the delightful conditions and indulged in an assortment of treats. Ice cream, cake, smoothies—you name it, they savoured it. And let’s not forget Linda, who couldn’t resist a classic G&T to complement the lovely weather.

One of the most heart-warming aspects of the day was the presence of Jeremy’s family. They joined him at the coffee shop, sharing in the joy and creating beautiful memories together. At Waverley Lodge, moments like these are cherished and celebrated, as they truly enrich the lives of the residents.

Saying thanks

The Waverley Lodge team always appreciates receiving thank-you cards from the residents and their families. It’s a heartening reminder that their efforts are making a positive impact and bringing joy to those they care for. Recently, Gina, a beloved resident, bid farewell to Waverley Lodge as she moved to a new home closer to her family. While the staff was saddened to see her go, they were thrilled to learn that Gina has settled in well and is happy in her new surroundings.

Summertime treats

With the arrival of summer, the Waverley Lodge residents wasted no time in embracing the season’s delights. This weekend, they embarked on their first venture into making homemade ice lollies. In a creative twist, they decided to infuse them with a touch of boozy goodness. Gin and tonic, Baileys, and crushed strawberry flavours graced their frozen treats, resulting in a unique combination that was met with resounding approval. Even Linda’s visitors were captivated by the unconventional flavours, demanding more of these delightful concoctions.

At Waverley Lodge, residents are encouraged to pursue their interests and desires, fostering a sense of fufillment and happiness. Julie, an enthusiastic resident, recently set her sights on a day out shopping. Her destination of choice? The much-loved Lush store. Accompanied by the caring staff, Julie had a truly wonderful afternoon at West Quay. To top it all off, she had a delightful encounter with none other than Percy Pig, adding an extra sprinkle of joy to her day. Reflecting on her experience, Julie exclaimed, “I’ve had a great afternoon and am already excitedly planning my next trip out.”

Catherine’s role with Allegra is to support residents and their families as they explore care options. It is important for our residents to remain part of the community in which will have lived for years, often all their lives, so the other part of this role is connecting with local community groups, charities and organisations.
