Exceptional amenities

Enjoying a wonderful location just to the north of Bristol, in the heart of the South Gloucestershire village of Winterbourne, Blossom Fields has been designed to combine home from home comforts with gold standard person-centred care. Luxurious lounges and dining rooms provide welcoming settings for socialising and relaxation; beautifully appointed private bedrooms offer elegant accommodation that residents can make their own; and the home is enhanced with wonderful additional facilities to enhance quality of life and well-being.

A valuable amenity for reminiscence therapy, our unique “Memory Lane” features a traditional 1950s pub, a quaint village post office and a charming greengrocers shop, which can help evoke longer term memories and stimulate mental activity. Endorsed by Dementia UK, reminiscence therapy is a valuable tool in the treatment of dementia, with proven benefits for psychological well-being.

Our sensory room fulfils a similar function, stimulating all of the wider senses, including well-being, space, time and togetherness. In a more practical vein, our hairdressing salon and cinema room enable residents to enjoy “real world” quality time in a safe, secure setting.

A refreshing, wellbeing-led approach to care - The Household Model

The home is arranged into separate households according to care requirements, each with its own nurse station, lounge, residents’ kitchenette and dining room. This modern approach to care nurtures the individual and the community, creating an environment for positive interaction and engagement whilst allowing room for privacy and independence whenever required. Fundamentally, it’s about working in partnership with residents and relatives, rather than doing tasks for them/ overstepping boundaries.

We want our residents to feel as though they’ve ‘just moved house’ rather than been placed in a stuffy, sanitised, regimented institution.

Personal relationships, genuine care

At Blossom Fields, we believe that genuine, personal relationships are an essential foundation for truly compassionate care. Our core staff team has changed very little over the years, enjoying a palpable togetherness, camaraderie and unity of approach, and making for a genuinely welcoming atmosphere that’s commended time and again by residents and their visiting family and friends.

Active mind and body

Stimulating mind, body and soul, an interesting and varied programme of activities is a cornerstone of our approach to care. There’s something for everyone, from arts, crafts, and gardening to cooking, singing and armchair aerobics. The talking newspaper, meanwhile, engages minds and memories, sparking lively reminiscence and discussion amongst residents and staff.

Home from home comforts

Many of the 43 spacious private rooms at Blossom Fields enjoy tranquil views out across open countryside. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture and personal effects to further enhance the reassuring home from home comforts we strive to provide. Together with their en-suite bathrooms, bedrooms have been individually designed, specified and appointed for safety, security and the delivery of outstanding care

Community

Community is a key word at Blossom Fields. Within the home, this relates to the welcoming family atmosphere, nurtured by our dedicated staff team and wholeheartedly embraced by our residents. In striving to deliver a professional service, care homes can tend to be rather clinical environments, but not at Blossom Fields, where the utmost professionalism is matched by a heartfelt warmth, kindness and generosity of spirit.

Our external community is just as important. As well as enjoying a close working partnership with the local GP practice at Frome Valley Surgery, we’re proud to support the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol, welcoming regular student nurse placements on our staff team. We also work closely with the village community here in Winterbourne, including much-valued links with the local library and church.
