As Glad to Care Week continues at our Cherry Blossom Care Home in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, we were delighted to welcome some true local heroes – the Peterborough Fire Brigade! This week is all about celebrating and showing appreciation for the incredible people who dedicate themselves to caring for others, and the fire brigade certainly fits the bill.
A Day of Fun and Learning
The firefighters arrived with a fire engine in tow, much to the excitement of the residents. They spent the afternoon engaging with everyone, sharing stories about their work and demonstrating some of their equipment. Residents were particularly fascinated by the hoses and the fire truck’s siren (used sparingly, of course!).
More Than Just Fire Safety
The visit wasn’t just about fire safety education (although some important tips were shared!). It was a fantastic opportunity for residents and firefighters to connect and share a few laughs. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie, as everyone enjoyed getting to know each other better.

The residents at Cherry Blossom were incredibly grateful for the time the firefighters spent with them. It was a heartwarming reminder of the dedication and selflessness of these vital service men and women who risk their lives to keep our communities safe.
