About Waverley Lodge Nursing Home

Located in Sherfield English, just outside the historic Hampshire town of Romsey, Waverley Lodge is a purpose-built nursing home providing specialist care for adults aged 18 to 65. The home is situated in 12 acres of beautiful gardens, affording tranquil views of parkland and open countryside from many rooms and from the larged decked terrace across the side of the property.

Care encompasses a wide range of learning and physical disabilities and conditions, including multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and motor neurone disease. The home also cares for those with cancer, stroke, head and brain injuries, and diabetes amputees. Waverley Lodge is one of very few homes of its kind to offer such a wide range of dedicated care with such specialised facilities. This breadth of valuable care provision is recognised in our “Good” rating from the Care Quality Commission, and our score of 9.1 out of 10 on carehome.co.uk.

Individualised care, sensitively delivered

All of our staff are highly trained, enabling us to provide specialist expertise across all areas of care.

Ongoing training and professional development ensures that the very latest practices and thinking are applied at all times, and all team members have been hand-picked not only for their professional qualifications, but for their kindness, empathy and patience - personal attributes that are non-negotiable for the highly specialised care we offer.

Registered Manager Jenny Wheeler is hugely experienced, and personally oversees all aspects of our operations, ensuring that Allegra Care’s exacting standards are rigorously upheld.

Exceptional care

The home is fully equipped with all of the latest equipment required to enable staff to offer exceptional care to each and every one of our residents, across a wide range of disabilities and conditions. Purpose-built from the ground up, Waverley Lodge has been designed specifically for learning and physical disability care - and to this end, every aspect of our amenities has been meticulously considered and implemented.

Additional facilities to make life better

Offering views across the grounds, the large lounge and separate dining room are social focal points. Additional facilities include a computer room and beauty treatment room, both playing key roles in enabling lifestyles to be as independent as possible.  With the home’s own minibus and a smaller vehicle for individual excursions, Waverley Lodge prioritises local trips as a key component of our care programme, providing essential stimulation, interest and enjoyment for residents. Regular visits to town, shops, bowling, football, pubs, theatre, cinema and more help create a rich and varied programme of events, augmented by countless in-house activities and pastimes to cater for all interests.

As a purpose-built home, Waverley Lodge also benefits from a wonderfully equipped modern kitchen. Here, our chefs create and prepare varied daily menus, using fresh, locally sourced produce wherever possible. All dietary requirements are meticulously observed, and meals are nutritionally balanced, enabling us to serve truly delicious cuisine throughout the seasons.

Generous room sizes with restful views

All 26 bedrooms are spacious, bright and airy. With high ceilings and generous proportions, accommodation is cosy and welcoming, neutrally decorated and attractively furnished. 24 rooms benefit from their own en-suite wet rooms, with a couple having access to enhanced accessibility bathrooms, equipped with more specialised lifting equipment and additional amenities. Most bedrooms enjoy restful views through picture windows of the mature gardens and trees surrounding the property.

Safety, security and peace of mind

To assist with orientation, decor and furnishings have been carefully selected to differentiate areas within the home. Bedrooms benefit from low touch temperature radiators, whilst intelligent lighting systems enhance resident safety, day and night. With such a range of disabilities to care for, fixtures and fittings through Waverley Lodge have been specified to the smallest detail to ensure that every individual’s needs are met.

Visiting therapies and treatments help cater for resident well-being, including hairdresser, beautician, physiotherapist and chiropodist, as well as regular visiting dental and optical services.

Allegra Care are proud to operate Waverley Lodge as a flagship home and exemplar for younger adult care across a wide range of physical and learning disabilities. A wonderfully equipped, purpose-built home in a truly beautiful location, offering dedicated and highly specialised care.
