Community Connections and Charity Support at St Georges in Weston-super-Mare

Community Day

Residents at St Georges Care Home in Weston-super-Mare recently enjoyed a wonderful community day that celebrated local connections, meaningful conversations, and charitable giving. From coffee mornings to charity talks, it was a day filled with warmth, reflection, and neighbourly spirit.

A Coffee Morning with the Community

The day began with a trip to the nearby St Georges Community Centre, where residents joined in with the regular Friday coffee morning. It was a lovely opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and meet new ones. Residents enjoyed friendly conversation with local attendees while learning about the upcoming events taking place at the centre.

Moments like these are a key part of life at St Georges, helping residents feel connected to the wider community.

Welcoming Lucy from Trussell Trust

Later in the day, residents gathered back at the home for a special talk from Lucy, the warehouse manager at the Weston-super-Mare Food Bank, part of the Trussell Trust. Lucy kindly visited St Georges to speak about the charity’s vital work in supporting local families in need.

This followed a visit by residents to the food bank last year, and Lucy’s return offered the perfect chance to personally deliver donations collected during the recent Harvest Festival. Residents found the talk informative and moving, reinforcing just how essential the food bank is to the local community.

Tea, Cake, and Thoughtful Conversation

After the talk, Lucy joined residents for a relaxed afternoon tea. The kitchen team prepared a tempting selection of homemade cakes, sparking conversation about food, gratitude, and generosity. Many residents reflected on how fortunate they felt to enjoy such a variety of high-quality meals at the home.

The team at St Georges would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Harvest Festival collection. The support shown will make a real difference, and the home looks forward to continuing its relationship with the Weston-super-Mare Food Bank.
