Dementia Action Week Art Exhibition
There was an evening to remember at Olive Tree House with the launch of the Dementia Action Week Art Exhibition with a cheese and wine evening.
The exhibition showcases the art work of residents from Olive Tree House and Rose Garden. The team welcomed families and the community to enjoy the display along with some residents. This amazing exhibition was the vision of Olive Tree House's Activities Coordinator Liz. Liz is passionate about the benefits of art therapy and helping residents realise they can do it!
Emulating Living with Dementia
Liz also set up a blank canvas with paints so everyone could experience first hand the changes in perception of someone living with dementia. With distortion googles and ear plugs it was a way of trying to understand how residents could be feeling with a mix of emotions, confusion and disorientation. What was interesting was the resulting art work was very similar to many of the art works on display.
Open to View
It has been a real team effort to make this vision a reality, thank you to everyone involved. Seeing the faces light up of residents who saw their art work on display was wonderful. The gallery will be open for everyone to enjoy over the coming weeks and all residents will have the opportunity to view their art work. Do call in any time to enjoy this remarkable exhibition.
