Care & nursing homes rebranded after Allegra Care takeover

Fordingbridge

FOUR Hampshire nursing homes and a care home are to be rebranded after their acquisition earlier this year.

Sentinel Healthcare was taken over in April by a joint venture consisting of Allegra Care and the real estate fund manager Moorfield.

They will be rebranded as Allegra Care from Wednesday, September 1, with the launch of a new website for the six homes in the Allegra family.

The Sentinel portfolio consists of five nursing homes with 200 beds – New Forest in Fritham and Cedar Lawn, Dunwood Manor and Waverley Lodge in and around Romsey, with Fordingbirdge Care Home focused on providing dementia care.

Allegra Care chief executive Helen Jones said: “Our vision is to create homelike environments which celebrate capacity, and encourage wellbeing and joy for residents and staff. With the inclusion of the Sentinel Hampshire homes into the Allegra Care family, we’re on the journey of delivering the vision.”

The partnership between Allegra Care and Moorfield, which was established in 2020, aims to create an initial £125million portfolio of modern nursing and dementia care homes in “demographically supported” locations in central and southern England.

The partnership will seek to acquire existing homes as well as developing new homes.

Allegra Care was founded in 2018 and is based in Basingstoke. It is focused on central and southern England including Hampshire, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Avon, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, West Sussex, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Warwickshire.

Its first acquisition was St George’s in Weston-Super-Mare, in 2019, followed by the five Hampshire homes this year, and it plans to significantly grow market share in the coming years.

Helen Jones has 20 years of experience in the Australian care industry, including developing the model used at Allegra Care.

Chief Financial Officer, Michael Davies, was formerly Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at UBS, while Chairman Paul Spence was Deputy Head of Trading at BZW Equities Division, now Barclays Capital. Executive Director Henry Lumby was formerly Head of Retirement Living at Savills.

Allegra Care is owned by Seniors Living Group, which was also owns extra care operator Amicala.
