Harvest Festival Food Bank Donations From St Georges

St George's Care Home in Weston-Super-Mare recently celebrated the harvest festival, a time to reflect, give thanks, and support the local community. Residents and staff came together for a heartfelt service and made a meaningful contribution to the Trussell Trust food bank.

Harvest Festival to Give Thanks

The harvest festival service was an opportunity for residents to express gratitude to the farmers who work tirelessly to bring fresh food to our tables. They also gave thanks to the care home’s dedicated kitchen team, who provide a variety of nutritious and delicious meals every day. During the service, residents reminisced about wartime rationing and a time when only seasonal produce was available, sharing memories and stories from their past.

Delivering Donations to the Trussell Trust

Following the service, residents Terry and Margaret joined the team to personally deliver the donated food to the Trussell Trust warehouse in Weston-Super-Mare. Upon arrival, they received a warm welcome from warehouse manager Lucy, who provided a guided tour and explained how the food bank operates. St George’s was proud to donate an incredible 49.60kg of food, which will be distributed to families in need across the area. In 2022 alone, the Trussell Trust supported over 8,000 people in the local community.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated Trussell Trust team, most of whom are volunteers, and to everyone who contributed to this vital collection.
