New Forest Nursing Home celebrates resident Darren regaining his new found health, independence and home.
Up until 2021 Darren was living independently in his own home but following a fall he was admitted to hospital. On discharge Darren came to the New Forest Nursing Home in Fritham near Cadnam. In the months of rehabilitation that followed, the team at New Forest Nursing Home worked tirelessly with Darren as he strove to regain his independence. Now, 19 months after arriving at New Forest Nursing Home, he has finally achieved his goal by moving into a new assisted living flat.
Darren has been a very popular resident of New Forest Nursing Home and residents and staff alike were sad to see him leave, but happy that his dream of independence has finally come true. To help him celebrate, they held a leaving barbecue in his honour.
Helen Chapman, Registered Manager at the New Forest Nursing Home said, “Darren has made a huge impact on all of our team, so whilst we were thrilled to see him finally becoming independent again, we all really miss him now that he’s left our care. Having been at New Forest Nursing Home for such a long time, Darren knows that any time he feels lonely and wants some company he can just pop in for a cup of tea or a spot of lunch - being on his own may feel very strange to him and we all wish to continue supporting him as much as possible to ensure that he continues to do well in his own home. I’d also like to say a huge thanks to Jemma, Lisa and Andy for going above and beyond with helping Darren settle into his new assisted living flat… New Forest teamwork at its very best!”
