Royal British Legion Talk At Olive Tree House

Thank you so much to John from the Stoke Gifford Branch of the Royal British Legion for taking the time to visit Olive Tree House and talk to residents about the work of the RBL and the up and coming Poppy Appeal.

The Poppy Appeal

John has been part of the RBL since he left the Royal Artillery in 1985, they are there for all military personal past and present and offer grants and support to those who have served. The Poppy Appeal fortnight starts this year on 25th October and is the largest source of income for the charity - over £50 million is raised annually.

New Biodegradable Poppy

This year sees the launch of the biodegradable poppy, you will still see the old style poppies around with the plastic centre as stocks are used up. The new style poppy looks really nice, but we understand isn't great if it gets wet. John left poppy boxes for Rose Garden and Olive Tree House so these will be on sale from next week. You will see John and his team at Sainsbury's and many other retail outlets across the area selling the poppies and other memorabilia.
