National Cream Tea Day was a delightful affair at our Cedar Lawn nursing home in Romsey, Hampshire. During Care Home Open Week, we hosted a special event to raise funds for Jane Scarth House, our local cancer support centre. The day was a heartwarming celebration of community spirit, delicious treats, and raising awareness for a worthy cause.
Blooming with Creativity
The morning buzzed with creative energy as residents collaborated on a delightful project. They crafted beautiful flower arrangements, meticulously placed in cups and saucers, which adorned the tea tables. These floral centerpieces added a touch of elegance and cheer to the atmosphere.
A Feast for the Senses
Our talented chef, Steve, deserves a round of applause for baking an abundance of delectable scones. From classic plain to delightful fruit varieties, his culinary creations catered to everyone's taste buds. He even ensured a gluten-free option was available for those with dietary restrictions.
A big thank you goes to #Rhoddas for providing the individual portions of clotted cream, and to #Tiptree for the little jars of jam – the perfect finishing touches to our cream tea feast!
Sweet Melodies and Supportive Hands
The afternoon was filled with the sweet sounds of Martin & Anita, a talented cello duo known as Cello-2. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity in donating their time and creating a beautiful musical ambiance.
Behind the scenes, a fantastic team ensured the event ran smoothly. Costa, the new deputy, assisted our Activities Coordinator, Sandy, with setting up the tables. Richard, a wonderful volunteer, brought his wife Maureen to help serve tea alongside Izzy and her friend Emily. Their collaborative effort is truly appreciated.
Memories Made and Money Raised
The residents and their families reveled in the afternoon, indulging in the delicious treats and enjoying the warm company. The positive feedback was overwhelming, with several families already inquiring about a repeat event next year!
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this National Cream Tea Day celebration a resounding success! In total, we raised a fantastic £127 for Jane Scarth House, a significant contribution that will make a real difference in their vital work supporting individuals affected by cancer.
