Weston College Benches and Biscuits Project Comes to St Georges

Benches and Biscuits

At St Georges care home in Weston-super-Mare, community engagement and intergenerational connection are woven into daily life. The home recently welcomed students from Weston College’s construction department as part of their heartwarming Biscuits and Benches project.

A Garden Gift with a Personal Touch

The students handcrafted a beautiful wooden bench for the home’s garden, a thoughtful addition that will be enjoyed by residents for years to come. Rather than simply delivering the bench, the students went a step further—bringing along tea, coffee, and biscuits to share with residents in a relaxed and social setting.

Lively conversation filled the lounge as residents chatted with the students about their work, studies, and plans for the future. It was a lovely afternoon that brought smiles, connection, and a sense of shared community.

Sharing Cultures and Celebrating Learning

The visit happened to coincide with a learning day focused on Ramadan, offering residents an opportunity to expand their understanding of different cultures and traditions. With a warm, friendly atmosphere and a buzz of curiosity, the home was full of conversation and connection.

The newly gifted bench now sits proudly in the courtyard, a symbol of both the students’ craftsmanship and the meaningful relationships built through shared experiences.
