Wandering With Purpose Households at Allegra Care
Our wandering with purpose households provide safe, supportive environments where residents can move freely, remain active and enjoy independence while receiving the reassurance of specialist care.
What is wandering with purpose?
Some people living with dementia or cognitive conditions have a natural desire to walk, explore and stay active throughout the day. Rather than viewing this as a behaviour that needs to be restricted, wandering with purpose recognises movement as an important form of expression, activity and wellbeing.
Specialist environments are designed to allow residents to move safely and independently while reducing confusion, anxiety and distress. The focus is on supporting freedom while maintaining safety.
At Allegra Care, our wandering with purpose households are carefully designed to encourage movement, familiarity and confidence in a secure and welcoming setting.

Supporting movement with dignity and understanding
We believe people should be able to continue living as actively as possible. Our approach focuses on understanding why someone wants to move around and creating an environment that supports this safely.
Through the Household Model, residents benefit from smaller, familiar communities where teams know them well and can respond to their individual needs.

Purpose-designed spaces allow residents to move around freely and confidently.

Care is tailored around individual routines, preferences and wellbeing.

Teams receive training to support residents with empathy and patience.

Movement, activity and independence are promoted wherever possible.

Everything else you need to know
All Allegra Care homes provide dedicated residential nursing care, with respite, long-term, and end-of-life provisions. People helping people is at our core, and that expert care prioritises warmth, compassion, and empathy.
Some Allegra Care homes, too, are able to offer additional specialist care. That can include dedicated dementia care, empathetic support for those exhibiting behaviours that challenge, specialised help for young people with disabilities, and more.
Care costs are just one of many aspects involved in choosing the right care option for your loved one. We understand, however, the importance of clarity when it comes to fees and funding. That’s why we invite you to get in touch with one of our friendly teams and discuss fees, funding options, and your individual needs.
The Household Model is a key part of Allegra Care’s philosophy and how we redefine the way care is delivered in the UK. At its heart, it’s about making each home a welcoming environment for residents, loved ones, and staff.
Residents retain their independence and sense of self, while feeling part of a fun and dynamic community where they can make real friends. They can maintain hobbies and habits, their loved ones can drop by whenever they like, and they forge genuine connections with carers and staff.
You can absolutely visit an Allegra Care home if you’re interested in learning more or think it may be a good fit for your needs.
It’s quick and easy to schedule a tour of the home that may suit you. Our friendly team will be delighted to show you around and to answer the questions of any prospective residents and their families.
Any new resident at an Allegra Care home can expect a warm welcome. We’re dedicated to ensuring that everyone feels at home. Rather than being focused on rules or schedules, we’re focused on people. That means whatever your loved one needs to settle in, we’ll do all we can to accommodate.
From day one, we’ll create a personalised care plan, you can visit as and when you wish, and you’re encouraged to bring personal items, pictures, and furniture to help make your loved one’s room truly their own.
Each resident’s personalised care plan is regularly reviewed by our expert care teams. Whether to respond to changing needs or simply make them feel happier and more comfortable, we’ll proactively adapt plans as necessary.
Families are absolutely welcome to visit at any time, and be a full and active part of an Allegra Care community. We’d simply suggest considering when staff’s busiest times are likely to be and, if possible, to give some advance warning of very early visits or planned outings.
Allegra Care operates a family of quality homes across central and southern England.
Including everything from modern, purpose-built properties to elegant country residences, our homes serve Hampshire and Dorset, South Gloucestershire and Somerset, Cambridgeshire, and Suffolk.
