Rose Garden marked Dementia Action Week which ran from 13th-19th May.
Dementia Action Week
The Rose Garden team marked Dementia Action Week with a number of activities throughout the week including a dress in yellow and blue day.
Forget-me-not Collage Creation
The team and residents put together a beautiful collage of hand-made forget-me-nots with notes from the team and residents of what is important for them not to forget. There were two common themes family and pets, one gentleman wrote “my wife, my dog and my newspaper” another wrote simply “my sons” and others alongside family wrote about what they enjoyed including flowers and knitting.
The Importance of Dementia Diagnosis
The team also put together a display about this year’s theme which was the importance of diagnosis and how one in three people living with dementia do not have a diagnosis. It was great to have the whole home involved in this important awareness week.
