Residents from Olive Tree House and Rose Garden Explore the Beauty of St Chad’s Church
Residents from Olive Tree House and Rose Garden in Bristol recently enjoyed a meaningful visit to the Memory Café at St Chad’s Church Hall in Patchway. As part of the outing, they were invited to explore the neighbouring St Chad’s Church, a hidden gem full of charm and character.
A Church with Hidden Beauty
Consecrated in 1964, St Chad’s may appear modest from the outside, but once inside, its beauty shines through. The stained glass windows were a particular highlight for residents, who took time to admire the vibrant colours and craftsmanship that bring the church’s interior to life.
The visit provided a quiet moment of reflection and a chance to appreciate the history and artistry of this local place of worship. Residents shared memories, enjoyed peaceful conversation, and took in the serene atmosphere.
Supporting Community Connection Through the Memory Café
The visit was organised as part of the local Patchway Memory Café, which meets on the first and third Monday of each month. Run by a team of kind and welcoming volunteers, the café provides a warm and supportive space for people living with memory loss or dementia.
Residents from both care homes are regular attendees, enjoying the variety of entertainment and themed activities on offer. The thoughtful gesture of opening up the church especially for the visit was greatly appreciated by residents and staff alike.
