Supporting the Samaritans with Brew Monday at Cedar Lawn

Residents and families enjoyed Brew Monday in aid of the Samaritans

A Heartwarming Afternoon for a Great Cause

On Monday, Cedar Lawn Nursing Home embraced the Samaritans' message that there is no such thing as Blue Monday. Instead, residents, staff, and visitors came together for Brew Monday, a heartwarming afternoon tea in support of the charity.

Head Chef Michael kindly prepared a delicious selection of cakes, creating the perfect setting for guests to enjoy tea, conversation, and connection. With plenty of smiles all around, the event embodied the spirit of Brew Monday, bringing people together to help combat loneliness and isolation.

The Importance of Brew Monday

The Samaritans encourage people to reach out and connect, reinforcing that feeling low isn’t limited to a single Monday in January. Their initiative replaces the idea of ‘Blue Monday’ with a more positive approach—reminding everyone that there is always time for a chat and a cuppa, no matter the day or occasion.

From the Samaritans website:

“At Samaritans we know there’s no such thing as ‘Blue Monday’. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – feeling low isn’t just something that happens on Mondays or a random day in January.

So, we say out with the blue and in with the brew!

There’s always time for a cuppa and a catch-up. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Monday morning or Saturday night, or if you’re drinking green tea, black coffee, or orange juice. If you’re sharing a cuppa and listening, you’re doing it right!”
