The residents and team at Fairmile Grange Care Home in Christchurch, Dorset recently came together to celebrate the vibrant Festival of Lights, Diwali. With colourful traditions and heartfelt moments, this year’s celebration was a beautiful blend of creativity, culture, and community spirit.
A Festival of Light and Togetherness
To honour Diwali, residents enjoyed a creative afternoon crafting their own Diyas – traditional lamps symbolising the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. In line with Hindu tradition, lighting Diyas helps guide Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, into the home. The activity was not only meaningful, but also a joyful way for everyone to engage with the spirit of the festival.
Honouring Special Members of Our Community
This year, a touching moment was shared during the celebration as two much-loved members of the Fairmile Grange community were recognised with personal Diwali gifts. Jainey, one of our dedicated nurses, and Shashi, a cherished resident, were each presented with a card and gift to mark the occasion. It was a heartfelt gesture that highlighted the love, appreciation, and warmth that define life at Fairmile Grange.
