National Button Day at Fairmile Grange Care Home

Residents making Christmas cards with button decorations for National Button Day

National Button Day proved to be the perfect opportunity for our residents at Fairmile Grange to get into the festive spirit! Residents spent a wonderful afternoon creating beautiful Christmas cards, using brightly coloured buttons to add a unique, cheerful, and textured design for their families and friends.

Crafting to the Classics

The atmosphere was both relaxing and fun, with the creativity flowing. The afternoon took a refined turn when the lovely resident Joan suggested that everyone might enjoy a little classical accompaniment while crafting. Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker proved to be the perfect choice, filling the room with magical music that enhanced the festive creative mood.

A Nod to Nostalgia

Did you know the National Button Society was founded in 1938? We enjoyed reminiscing about the history of buttons during our session. We wonder: Do you remember your mother or grandmother keeping a button tin? Maybe you still have one of your own—these simple items often hold wonderful memories!
