On St David’s Day, the spirit of Wales truly came alive at Fairmile Grange Care Home, Christchurch, Dorset! It was a morning filled with laughter, music, and pride as staff and residents gathered to celebrate our wonderful Welsh residents and the rich traditions of the patron saint of Wales.
A Vibrant Celebration
The festive atmosphere was set by two of our team members who fully embraced the spirit of the day: the lovely Alison, who dressed as a vibrant daffodil, and Andrea, who made everyone smile as a giant leek!
The celebrations began on a high note with a powerful rendition of the Welsh National Anthem, followed by a lively singalong to hits from legendary Welsh icons like Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. There was plenty of toe-tapping and dancing as the home echoed with classic melodies.
Quiz Champions and Personal Requests
Our resident John, a true Welshman through and through, showed off his impressive local knowledge by winning our "Everything Welsh" quiz! To celebrate his victory, John requested some of his favourite songs performed by the renowned baritone Bryn Terfel, adding a touch of classical elegance to the morning.
A Taste of Wales
No celebration is complete without something sweet! To finish the wonderful day, everyone enjoyed a taste of authentic Bara Brith, freshly prepared by Fairmile’s talented Chef. The delicious traditional fruit bread was a huge hit and provided the perfect end to a very special cultural celebration.
At Fairmile Grange, we love celebrating the diverse backgrounds and heritage of all our residents. If you are looking for a care home in Dorset that offers a vibrant social life and person-centred activities, please contact our friendly team today to book a personal tour.
